Privacy Policy
Habitizer ("the app") is built and maintained by Electric Samsosa, an indie developer (unregistered sole proprietorship). This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.
In short: your habit data lives on your device. If you choose to enable backup, it goes to your own Google Drive — not to us. We collect your name (from onboarding), backup email (if set up), and IP address solely for support and debugging — never for marketing or shared with third parties for their own use.
Information We Handle
Personal Information
The app collects the following personal information from all users:
- Name — entered by you during the app's onboarding flow.
- Email address — the Google account email associated with your Drive backup, collected only if you set up cloud backup.
- IP address — logged automatically when the app communicates with backend services (e.g. backup, analytics, crash reporting).
This information is used exclusively to provide customer support, debug issues on a case-by-case basis, and maintain service stability. It is not used for marketing, profiling, or shared with any third party for their own purposes.
Purchase & Subscription Data
When you make a purchase, transaction details — such as the subscription type, purchase date, and renewal status — are processed by Google Play Billing and RevenueCat, our subscription management platform. We receive anonymised purchase receipts and entitlement status from RevenueCat to unlock premium features. RevenueCat may store certain purchase metadata on its servers; please refer to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details. We do not store your payment card details — these are handled entirely by Google Play.
Data You Create In The App
Habits, entries, reminders, preferences, and any custom alarm sounds you add are stored locally on your device using Android's Room database and DataStore. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud backup.
Google Drive Backup (Optional)
If you enable backup, the app uploads a ZIP archive of your habit data to a folder named
Habitizer Backups inside your own Google Drive. We use the
drive.file scope, which means the app can only access files it created — it
cannot read the rest of your Drive. The backup is stored under your Google account; we have
no server, no copy, and no access to it.
Analytics
The app uses Firebase Analytics to understand aggregated, anonymous app behaviour — for example, which screens are used, which features are popular, and where users drop off. This helps us improve the product. Analytics events do not include your habit names, entries, notes, or any personally identifiable information.
Crash Reporting
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to automatically report crashes and stack traces so we can fix bugs and improve stability. Crash reports may include device model, operating system version, and a technical stack trace. They do not include your habit data.
What We Do Not Do
- No ads and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party trackers beyond Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and RevenueCat.
- No account system — the app does not require you to sign up or log in (Google sign-in is only used for Drive backup).
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data with third parties for their own purposes.
- Personal data (name, email) collected during purchase is never used for marketing communications.
Permissions
The app may request the following Android permissions:
- Notifications — to deliver habit reminders you have set.
- Exact alarms — so reminders fire at the precise time you chose.
- Internet — required for Google Drive backup, analytics, and crash reporting.
- Google Drive (drive.file scope) — only if you enable backup.
Subscriptions & Billing
Available Plans
Habitizer offers the following premium subscription options, all managed through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat:
- Monthly subscription — billed once per month, renews automatically.
- Yearly subscription — billed once per year, renews automatically.
- Lifetime access — a one-time purchase granting permanent access to all current premium features, with no recurring charges.
Prices are displayed in your local currency at the time of purchase on the Google Play Store and are subject to change. Any price change will not affect your active subscription until your next renewal cycle, at which point Google Play will notify you.
Free Trials & Introductory Offers
Where offered, free trials or introductory pricing are available to new subscribers only, one per Google account. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your payment method will be charged the standard subscription price automatically.
Automatic Renewal
Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Google Play account is charged within 24 hours before the renewal date. Lifetime purchases are a single charge with no renewal.
Cancellation
You may cancel a monthly or yearly subscription at any time through the Google Play Store — go to Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions and select Habitizer. Cancelling stops future renewals; you retain access to premium features until the end of the current paid period. Cancellation does not automatically trigger a refund for the current period.
Lifetime purchases are non-recurring and cannot be "cancelled" — once purchased, premium access is yours permanently.
Refund Policy
General Policy
All purchases are processed by Google Play. Refunds for in-app purchases are generally governed by Google Play's refund policy. You may request a refund directly from Google Play within the applicable window using the Play Store or Google's order history page.
Beyond Google Play's standard window, refunds are entirely at the developer's discretion and assessed on a case-by-case basis. There is no automatic entitlement to a refund for a change of mind, unused subscription period, or dissatisfaction with a feature.
Guaranteed Refund — Lifetime + Active Subscription Overlap
The only scenario in which a refund is guaranteed is the following: if you purchased a Lifetime subscription and were subsequently charged for a monthly or yearly subscription renewal on or after the date of your lifetime purchase, you are entitled to a full refund of that erroneous charge. This situation should not occur due to the way entitlements are managed, but if it does, please contact us immediately with your purchase receipts and we will issue a full refund without question.
Non-Refundable Purchases
The following are explicitly not eligible for a guaranteed refund and remain at the developer's sole discretion:
- Monthly or yearly subscription charges made before the date of a lifetime purchase.
- Subscription periods that have already been used or partially consumed.
- Purchases made on a secondary Google account while a lifetime entitlement exists on another account.
- Charges resulting from a free trial converting to a paid plan where the trial was not cancelled in time.
How To Request a Refund
To request a refund or report a billing issue, email support@electricsamsosa.in with your Google Play order ID, the purchase date, and a brief description of the issue. We aim to respond within 3–5 business days.
Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete a habit, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Backup ZIPs in your Google Drive are kept according to the app's auto-backup policy (the most recent five backups are retained; older ones are deleted automatically). You can delete backup files manually from your Drive at any time.
Subscriber name and email data collected at the time of purchase is retained only for as long as it is necessary to provide support or resolve disputes. If you request deletion of this data, we will remove it from our records within a reasonable time, provided there is no outstanding billing dispute or legal obligation requiring us to retain it.
Your Choices
- Disable backup by signing out of Google Drive in the app's settings.
- Delete your data by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.
- Delete backups directly from your Google Drive.
- Cancel your subscription at any time via the Google Play Store. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
- Request data deletion — to have your name or email removed from our support records, contact us at the email below.
- Analytics and crash reporting are tied to the app's lifecycle. If you would like your analytics or crash data removed, contact us using the email below.
Children's Privacy
The app is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Security
Communication with Google's services uses HTTPS. Your local data is protected by Android's app sandbox. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we make reasonable efforts to protect your information.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
